Mary, the host of Tiny Talk came up with the holidays edition for the month of December. However, the little ones in this house did not do much holiday talk this past week. But I’m still using the holiday graphic above because it’s just so darn cute! :)
Now, here’s what I did hear:
Last week Emery was eating a bowl of alphabet soup and commenting on every letter that ended up on his spoon. He’d tell me what the letter was and what sound it made. I thought lunch was going to last FOREVER! Toward the end he got the letter “B”.
Emery: Mommy, it’s a B. B says Buh.
Mommy: That’s right. B is also for boy. Are you a boy or a girl?
Emery: I a boy.
Mommy: Good. Is Mommy a boy or a girl?
Emery hesitated then gave me a funny look and said, “Mommy is a Jodi.”

Yesterday Savannah (who is 2 weeks shy of turning 5) and I were coloring together at the kitchen table. She looked over at my picture and said, “Wow Mom! You are good at staying in the lines!”
I said, “Well, that’s because I’ve had a lot of practice.”
She replied, “Yeah! You color like you’re six!”

Because Savannah is learning how to read and write words I am constantly saying things like, “D-O-G spells dog or C-A-T spells cat and if you add an O, you get coat”. On and on…day in and day out. So much so that Emery has picked up on it and has joined in.
The other day he came out of his bathroom clutching something in his hand. He caught my gaze and started pointing at the object with his pudgy little 2 year old finger, and explained “C-R-E-S-T spells Emery’s toothpaste!”
