Earlier this month I posted this decorating dilemma. I was pleasantly surprised when my sister and my mom’s friend, Melisa both had the same great idea!

A tray! (Littlest Pet Shop characters, optional.)

Why didn’t I think of that??? I even had that wooden tray sitting around, not being used for anything. I love it right there on the ottoman with my books and coffee cup. (Although, usually it’s not hanging off the edge like in this picture!) The only thing that was missing was a blanket.

I asked my mom to help me make a quilt and in the mean time, she said I could borrow that soft blue throw from her bedroom. We planned a “working Saturday” for the new quilt-to-be, but that turned out to be the weekend it snowed and our favorite quilt shop was closed.

So one day last week, when Jeremy took the kids to his dad’s, I met my mom at Sweet Home Quilt Co. and we browsed until we found these:

Pretty, huh? I love picking out fabrics and trying to imagine what the finished project will look like. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks mom and I will plan another work day to make the quilt top. I can’t wait to see it lying in my favorite comfy spot!!!

Okay, so a while back I posted about a quilt called “Wicked Easy” that I was working on. A few people had asked me to post a picture but I couldn’t because it was a gift for my niece’s graduation. Now, since the graduation is over, I am happy to show the pictures:

This is the first twin sized quilt that I have made. There were a few times I had second thoughts about making it so big, mainly because it’s hard getting all that material up in the sewing machine towards the end! But I loved how it looked so much and I love the person who was going to get it so much, and I thought about how much I thought she would love it so much….and those second thoughts went right away! :)

(After I laid it out on Savannah’s bed I thought, hmmmm…wouldn’t it be fun to make one for her too????)

And that is a close up of the colorful fabrics I used. As I said in the first post about this quilt, I didn’t want to use anything floral or natural looking. I wanted this quilt to reflect Eden’s personality. Bright and bubbly is what I kept thinking. When I found these colors, I thought it would be perfect for her.

I got started on a project today that’s been on my to-do list for quite a while. I’ve been actively thinking about it, but not exactly doing anything with the thoughts. And in my defense, the one time that I did try to accomplish part of it, I couldn’t find the material I wanted. I needed the perfect blend of colors. No pastels. No florals. Not too beige and “natural”. I wanted color, bright color, but it couldn’t be gaudy. Oh yeah, and I needed to decide what it was I wanted to do with all this color.

That’s when my mom showed me a quilt pattern called Wicked Easy. Sounds perfect for me! Not the wicked part…the easy part. (That doesn’t sound good either, does it!) Then we went to the fabric store.

After looking around a bit, there it was!!!! I couldn’t believe how well it matched the idea I had in my head. It was Perfect! Just what I wanted! We found coordinating colors and bought the sizes I needed. I couldn’t wait to get back to mom’s house to see how it was going to look pieced together.

So far today I got all the material cut and put together 5 blocks. I have 15 more to put together. And I really LOVE how it looks. I have a feeling this is going to be an awesome looking quilt. And I’m so glad…because it’s for an equally awesome person!

Weekly Memory Verse: “For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful. I know that full well.”

I have a friend that is having a baby soon. Last week I made her this baby quilt:

It is called a “Shaggy Raggy” quilt. It goes together pretty quick, made with 12 inch blocks of flannel sewn back to back. Then each block is stiched together leaving the ends exposed. Before it’s complete, I clipped the ends and then threw it in the washer and dryer to give it this look:

Can you see how it looks frayed around each block? It’s really unique and so very, very soft. Perfect for bundling new babies! :)

Having quilts as family heirlooms to pass down through the generations: Priceless!
