I thought that was a better title than “The Season of Sickness”. But either one describes the York clan quite well. We are the sickest group of people I have met in the past 3 weeks. Not that I’ve been out of this infirmary for very long periods of time where I could actually meet anyone sicker than us. Most trips out of the house have consisted of visits to the doctor or pharmacy, and one fun trip Christmas night to find a store open where I could purchase more Children’s Tylenol.
We have shared everything from vomitting and diarrhea, to fever and chills, to a sore throat, strep throat, and bronchitis. I woke up this morning pretty sure I have tonsillitis seeing as my tonisills are practically touching each other in the back of my mouth, but for as crappy as I feel, I’m just not willing to sit in the ER over it. I am really hoping the Nyquil knocks it out tonight and I can avoid visiting my doctor tomorrow with the kids in tow.
But even though I seem to have failed in my quest for germ warfare, we did manage to have fun during the Christmas holidays. One particularly enjoyable moment was when Emery opened his first present on Christmas Eve. He had been eyeing the large box covered in Winnie the Pooh wrapping paper, so we thought we’d let him tear into it. With the help of my parents, he began ripping the paper, then he started to cry. The more tearing that was done, the harder he would cry. We finally figured out that he was upset because we were destroying Pooh Bear. So we saved him a large piece of the paper and he was happy. So much for the basketball goal that was under all that paper!
There were other fun times with family and friends, too many to mention really since I haven’t kept up with this journal during the past couple weeks. But I just wanted to get on tonight and write something so that far away family will know that we survived the holidays…barely…and hopefully we will be healthy in 2007 real soon!
Happy New Year!
