So I imagine all across the great state of Georgia people are uploading their pictures of yesterday’s snowfall. We get kinda goofy in these parts when it snows. We don’t mean to, it’s just that it doesn’t happen very often. At the sign of the first little flurry I started scrambling around the house looking for warm things the kids could wear outside. Even Stafford got in on the action:
Five year old Savannah had never seen snow before. In the morning we had prayed and asked God to please let us have some snow to play in and catch on our tongues. The very first thing she did outside was look up, open her mouth, and then cry because a snowflake fell into her open eye!
We weren’t out there long when it really started coming down. I mean accumulating and everything! It almost covered the grass, and around here, that’s means possible school cancellations!!!! Serious stuff, People.
Once the children noticed they were wet, they suddenly got cold and wanted to come in for hot showers. Jeremy ordered some pizza (with all the winter fun dinner was completely overlooked!) and while we waited, the kids and I watched him out on the deck making snow balls and tiny snowmen. We stayed inside where it was warm. He is crazy out there in a short sleeved shirt!
The snowfall ended after only an hour or two and was followed by rain. When Savannah got up this morning she immediately wanted to go outside and play in the snow. I gently asked her to look outside and explained that the rain had washed it all away. Next thing I know, she is standing there, hands folded, eyes closed, saying “God, please send us some more snow to play in.”
Thankfully we do still have this little guy:
Jeremy brought him in last night when he finished playing on the deck and put him in the freezer. He says we are keeping him until the next time it snows as a reminder of how fun it can be. Uh, yeah…I don’t think so.
