After a weekend gathering my strength I decided I would tackle the weeds in the backyard today. I put on a pair shorts, a tank top, and snake boots. No, not really on the snake boots. Actually I put on my favorite red, white, and blue Speedo flip flops because they matched my red shirt. And they are my favorite. Did I already say that?
So off I went, this time with my trusty four legged friend to feel out the territory before me. It wasn’t long before I was finishing up in the area that surrounds the kids’ sandbox. Savannah was playing in the sand and suddenly started asking me quesions:
“Mommy, what are you doing?”
“I am spraying poison on the weeds.”
“Why?”
“So they will die.”
“But God made the weeds.”
“Yes, I know He did, Sweetie. But we can’t just let weeds grow wherever they like. Pretty soon they will take over your whole sandbox.”
Silence. And then quietly, almost to herself, I hear…
“I can’t believe you are killing God’s Holy weeds.”
