Well, it finally happened.
The permanent tooth was already visible. The baby tooth was left dangling in the breeze.
She refused to pull it out. Then, at some point last night, she came into our bedroom and whispered in my ear, “Mommy, it’s out. Look!”
So Jeremy and I made a big deal out of it, turning on the light and admiring the lost tooth before letting her crawl into bed with us for the rest of the night. It wasn’t until this morning that I noticed just how big the gap is in her cute little mouth.
“”
I asked her if she wanted to put the tooth out for the tooth fairy tonight but she said no. She wants to show it to her friend Alexis tomorrow. I will be surprised if she ever decides to leave it under her pillow.
After loosing her first tooth and hearing about the tooth fairy, it freaked her out. “A fairy comes into my room while I’m sleeping?” she asked before starting to cry. I thought the fact that the fairy would leave her a present would be enough to calm her fears, but it wasn’t. She had a hard time sleeping that night, and as a matter of fact, I still have her 2nd tooth. She didn’t want the whole tooth fairy experience again.
I’m thinking of offering to leave the tooth fairy pillow in the kitchen or something. But if she’s still not interested, I figure it’s no big deal. I guess we’ll never have to have the “there’s no such thing as a tooth fairy” talk and I’ll keep my spare change to myself. :)
