Nanny and Grampa arrived last night as our first visitors to the new house. Since today was a Friday, and officially a school day, and also because we got a such a late start to our school year with all the moving around, I decided a field trip would be a great idea. We could spend time with family sight seeing and learn a little something about animals. As a multitasking mom, I’m all about killing two birds with one stone!
I snagged some discount tickets to the West Palm Zoo and we headed over to check it out. Granted, this wasn’t our first trip to a zoo, but I thought it was very cool that a zoo in South Florida houses different animals than the zoos we typically visit further north. I had never seen an anteater and had no idea they could get this big by eating ants! Savannah was REALLY excited to see a Capybara. She did a report last year on Brazil and was fascinated with the worlds largest rodent! We also saw sloths, tapirs, a wallaby, and the biggest bald eagle I have ever seen!
The weather was perfect and the zoo was delightful. All in all a great day!
