From our house to yours… We Wish You a Merry Christmas!!!!!
Merry Christmas!!!
Our American Girl Turns 11
Given the choice of what she’d like to do for her birthday this year, Savannah chose going back to the American Girl store in Atlanta and getting this years’ doll, Saige. She really connects with Saige, an artist and lover of horses. When we watched the movie, Savannah talked about it for days so I wasn’t too surprised when I heard that’s what she wanted.
We took her friend, Ava Grace, with us for the day. Had lunch at Chickfila and then dessert in the American Girl bistro. I know it’s cliché but I still can’t believe how fast these birthdays get here every year! My tween will soon be a teen, and though she’s anxious to hit that milestone, I want to enjoy every moment of her 11th year.
Love you Savannah!!!
Words of Wisdom
Thankful Leaves
Changing things up a bit for our school day in honor of the changing leaves outside our window. Today we made Thankful Leaves to hang on the mantle. It was fun to see what everyone was particularly thankful for:
God, family, Daddy’s job, salvation, Mom’s job (that kid got extra credit!), the first Thanksgiving, etc.
Halloween 2013
As you can see, I’ve had a boy’s help decorating for Halloween this year. He would have loved to have gotten more creepy, gory stuff, but I had to draw the line somewhere or I’m afraid we would have walked out of Lowe’s with one of those giant, light up yard inflatables!
Even the pumpkins look a bit scared and mysterious this year. It’s sorta the same look I got when I suggested the kids NOT go trick or treating this Halloween. I mean, c’mon… 10 years of dressing them up, going door to door, then repeating the phrase “stop eating so much candy!!!” for 2 weeks!!! It’s enough already!!! I even offered to buy them their own bag of treats in lieu of a costume. One child considered it, but in the end…. no takers.
So this is how the house at the end of the culdesac got decked out. The orange crime scene tape says “Keep Out! Beware!”. There are abundant spider webs and grave sites, complete with scary, 8 legged, creatures. And you can’t see it in the picture, but there are “eyes” in the bushes that light up at night next to a black crow hanging in a cage that caws whenever anyone walks by. It’s not exactly the pretty fall decor I see all over Pinterest, but it definitely fits our family in 2013!
