Emery got a slip and slide for his birthday. Neither of my kids have ever slipped or slud, and as much as I enjoyed slipping and sliding in my youth, I was not going to be the one to show them. At my age, I could break a hip or something! Besides, the instructions on the box very specifically said “No one allowed who is over 110 lbs”. And quite frankly, I fall into that category.
So since I’m always looking for a great excuse to have friends over, eat snacks, and play outside in the hot sun until naptime, I called Amy to see if she’d like to bring her boys over to show my two novices proper slip and slide technique.
And YAY, she agreed!
We both kind of wondered how the older 2 would play together (4 yr old girl and 5 yr old boy). Especially since I had asked Savannah to tidy up her room a bit this morning and she gave me that “whatever” look and said, “Why? Noah won’t play in here. He’s a boy.” (Duh, Mom!)
Turns out there was no need to worry. They played in her room, the living room, outside, and the playroom. And when it was time to go, there was lots of protesting. Which I know is officially backtalk and arguing, but it’s nice to know they were having so much fun together and wished it didn’t have to end.
And speaking of ending, I should really wrap this up. I am supposed to be packing for our trip to the Smoky Mountains. We are leaving in less than 24 hours and I still do not even have a babysitter!!! Gosh, that’s kind of important. Better run…
